The test principle of

Under specified conditions, the horizontal position of the sample was exposed to the action of a small ignition source, namely hexamethylene tetramine tablet (hereinafter referred to as tablet), and the damage length and flame spread time after the test were measured.

The attachment list

When you open the package, please check the following materials:

1 test box: the internal size of the test box is 300mm×300mm×300mm, which is made of hard refractory insulation board, with heat resistance similar to that of asbestos cement, and the thickness is not less than 6mm. The top of the box is open, and there is a movable bottom plate made of the same material, and the joint is sealed.

Note: other test boxes that can give the same results can be used.

Square metal plate: 230mm×230mm, thick (6.5±0.5)mm, with a round hole with a diameter of 205mm in the middle.

Dryer: storage tablets and dry samples, it is recommended to use the color silica gel as a desiccant.

Oven: there should be ventilation and constant temperature control. The temperature inside the box was (105±2)℃.

Gloves: polyethylene, polypropylene and silicone gloves are available.

Steel rule: the dividing value is mm.

Vacuum cleaner: all surfaces in contact with the sample shall be flat and smooth.

Laboratory fume hood: volume about 2m3, airtight, the exhaust device can be closed during the test. The front or one side of the fume hood shall be provided with glass Windows for viewing specimens.

Tablets: hexamethylenetetramine (trade name ulotropin) flat tablets with a mass of (150±5)mg and a diameter of 6mm.

Note: the tablet is stored in the dryer to reduce cracking when ignited.

Timer: stopwatch is optional.

The use of gaskets is not specified. This method can be used to evaluate the combination of carpet and gaskets if both parties concerned agree.

The wet sample

Use a vacuum cleaner to clean the sample and remove the fluff on the fluff head.

Moisture control samples shall be selected by one of the following methods according to specific conditions. The samples shall be individually placed with the carpet face up or carried out in accordance with the method agreed by the parties concerned:

Method a: as stipulated in ISO139, the sample was placed in standard atmosphere with temperature (20±2)℃ and relative humidity (65±4)% for 24h, and then taken out and put into a sealed container.

Method b: place the samples in an oven at (105±2)℃ for 2 hours, and transfer them to the dryer until they reach room temperature.

Note: the moisture-regulating samples of method b are more strict, while those of method a are more realistic. The selection of method should be based on specific conditions.

2.2 test steps

1. The test shall be conducted in an atmosphere with a temperature of 10℃~30℃ and a relative humidity of 20%~65%.

2. Put the test box into the ventilator and turn off the exhaust device.

3. Put on gloves and take out a sample from the humidifying atmosphere or dryer. For the pile sample, brush the pile upright along the direction of inverse pile lodging.

4. Place the sample face up on the bottom plate of the test chamber, and place the metal plate on the sample, with the four sides aligned with the sample.

5. Take a tablet and place it flat in the center of the sample. Light the tablet with the flame of a lit match or igniter. If timing is required, start the stopwatch. Be careful not to touch the sample with a lighted match or flame of the igniter.

The time interval between the sample being taken from the container or dryer and the tablet being ignited should be controlled within 2min. If the time exceeds 2min, another sample should be taken and retested according to 3-5.

If the tablet breaks during ignition, the test results are invalid.

If one of the above two conditions is met, the test shall be terminated. The timing shall be stopped immediately. The exhaust device of fume hood shall be opened to eliminate smoke and toxic qi body.

A steel ruler is used to measure the maximum distance from the center of the sample to the edge of the damaged area in millimeters (mm).

Remove the sample and remove the residue from the bottom plate. Sufficient time should be allowed between tests for the chamber to be cooled to room temperature ±5℃.

Repeat the remaining seven samples according to the method specified in 4~5.

If necessary, use a timer to measure in seconds the time it takes for the tablet to ignite to flame or flame free to extend to the edge of the hole in the plate.
