A, the test

This section combined with QB/T 2882(method A) -- "test method for rubbing color fastness of lining, lining and inner pad of footwear upper" to introduce the general steps of the test and the use of the instrument. Detailed testing process is strongly referred to the relevant standards.

1.1 preparation before test

Sample: prepare a number of rectangular samples, which are large enough to be firmly clamped on the test platform. The sample can be sampled in any direction. In general, the minimum size of the sample is 100mm×25mm. The sample is placed in a standard environment specified in ISO 18454 to be moistened for at least 24 hours

The following steps are performed according to the standard requirements, depending on how the material is handled.

Ø dry friction test:

A) install the tested sample directly with the dry wool felt.

Ø wet rubbing test:

A) soak the felt pad in cold distilled water, bring to a boil, keep boiling (60±5) g, and cool to room temperature. Remove the felt from the water immediately prior to testing. Remove any overinflated or soft felt pad. The duration of the felt pad in water should not exceed 24h. Unused felt pads should be discarded after 24h and new felt sheets prepared.

B) adjust the moisture in the felt pad by gently squeezing it. When it is fixed on the friction hammer and parked on the sample, a small amount of liquid is extruded, forming a circle of wet marks and stopping the extrusion.

How is the color fastness tester for leather surface friction tested? Sweat friction sample:

A) soak the felt pad in cold distilled water, bring to a boil, keep boiling (60±5) g, and cool to room temperature. Remove the felt from the water immediately prior to testing. Remove any overinflated or soft felt pad. The duration of the felt pad in water should not exceed 24h. Unused felt pads should be discarded after 24h and new felt sheets prepared.

B) gently squeeze the felt pad to remove excess water and immediately immerse it in artificial sweat for 5min.

C) remove the felt pad from the sweat and remove the overinflated felt pad.

Friction test Ø oil solvents

A) soak the felt pad in petroleum solvent for (30±5) s. Get rid of overinflated felt pads.

1.2 test method

The sample is fixed on the platform

Rotate the extension bolt and stretch the specimen.

A) woven fiber and thick leather, stretch 5%

B) for standard footwear, stretch by 10%

C) soft leather, stretch 15%-20%

Lift the friction hammer and fix the felt pad on the bottom surface of the friction hammer. The two edges of the felt pad are parallel to the movement direction of the platform.

Drop the friction hammer and add additional weights as needed.

Set the number of times of friction on the counter (stop after 100 if there is no specified number of times of friction). When the number of times of friction is high, stop the machine at intervals, if necessary, to cool the sample, and check whether the surface coating of the sample is damaged by heat generated by friction.

After the test, remove the sample and wool felt.

Wet and other liquid tests shall be conducted under the standard conditions specified in ISO 18454 to dry felt pads and samples. The drying time shall be at least 16h.
